The standard 16" wheels are only 6" wide and are on the bare minimum for 215mm wide tyres, add to that the weight of the AWDs and you get a saggy side-wall even at 40PSI and hence wearing out the edges. Compare it to the Falcon and Commodore, both of them fit 215mm tyres to 6.5" or wider wheels. It would have been cheaper to go 17x7.5" or 18x8" with new tyres when it came time to get new tyres. Once I switched to wider wheels, I never experienced premature wearing of edges and I drove it like I stole it.
